#CB99talks 143 WMMA Review for 2023

Happy New Year MMA fans, this episode we are going to take a look back at the year of WMMA for 2023. 2023 was a rough year for me, but the WMMA scene turned out to be pretty consistent and entertaining. There were good fights on all levels, huge KOs and finishes, and big upsets! Tonight I pick fights from across organizations that had the best KOs, submissions, muggings, and entertaining wars. So tune in and we’ll discuss who are the next fighters to look out for as well as my wishlist of fights I need to see for 2024. Make sure you subscribe and enjoy!

#CB99talks 140 (Scrap over Strap)

Alright WMMA fans, this week’s episode comes at a time when the fights are a little slow so I decided to bring up a topic that’s been on my mind. This topic revolves around the last few fights over the past few weekends. After watching several ladies perform to a high level of urgency, I come to the conclusion that there are some fighters that may not reach the top, but their performances will keep them in the UFC. Putting on a crowd pleasing performance is necessary for fighters that have a lack of skills to get near the top 10 or near the belt so letting it all go is their next best choice. Also we’ll discuss the state of the women’s UFC bantamweight division. Can the division get back to where it once was?

#CB99talks 139 (Make a Statement)

Back with another one WMMA fans, to discuss the 8 fights we had the past weekend! Bellator 300 had 4/5 finishes on the WMMA scene, but which fights really stood out? What’s next for Cris Cyborg and Cat Zingano after a quick night?

The Yusuff vs. Barboza card packs four more WMMA fights so lets talk including new comers to 135:

Ashley Yoder vs. Emily Ducote

Melissa Dixon vs. Irina Alekseeva

Tainara Lisboa vs. Ravena Oliveira

Jennifer Maia vs. Viviane Araujo

#CB99talks 138 (Loaded Weekend of Fights!)

It’s gonna be a loaded Saturday of fights, tune in as we discuss not four or five but eight fights across UFC and Bellator! Bellator 300 actually outnumbers UFC with WMMA fights this Saturday with five fights and were supposed to include two title fights, but MacFarlene missed weight! Tonight we discuss UFC FIGHT NIGHT and BELLATOR 300’s line up women fights: UFC: JJ Aldrich vs. Montana De La Rosa, Vanessa Demopolous vs. Kananko Murata, Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs. Diana Belbita Bellator: Ilara Joane vs. Jena Bishop, Sara McMann vs. Leah McCourt, Lorrany Santos vs. Jackie Cataline, Liz Carmouche vs. Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, and Cris Cyborg vs. Cat Zingano. So tune in and subscribe!!

#CB99talks 137 (WMMA Catch up)

Seems like I’m always behind when it comes to fights because there’s always a card I missed. So the past couple weeks I had to catch up on fights when there was no UFC card. So this episode we go back to Bellator 299 to discuss Mackenzie Stiller and Sara Collins wins, DWCS and his new signed fighters who didn’t get the traditional victories but they impressed. Also we have to discuss PFL potentials Dakota Ditcheva and Shanell Dyer after their dominant wins. Lets top it off with ONE FC Fight Night 14 and congratulate the newly crowned three sport champion Stamp Fairtex! Tune in and subscribe!

#CB99talks 136 (Nothing but the best)

We are back after a great weekend of fights! Last Saturday’s UFC Noche turned out to be a crowd pleaser and one for the books. The main event along with the fights on the prelims have been part of the discussion this whole week. I’ve discussed the actual fights so now lets talk about what’s next for the winners and losers of the fights. After a solid return to form for Loopy Godinez, she is now in the top 15 so now it’s time to fight up. Tracey Cortez makes a great return in fashion and she is ready to return make her title run. The young Josefine Knutsson won her debut so its time to see her in the cage with another young hungry up and comer. Of course last but not least, the top five of the flyweight division looks great so question is, will Shevchenko get her third fight against Grasso? Will Erin Blanchfield or Manon Fiorot take on the champion next, or will they battle each other in a title eliminator? Don’t forget its fight week we have Bellator 299, and UFC fight night. Tamires Vidal vs. Monsterrat Rendon, Mizuki Inoue vs. Hannah Goldy, the rematch between Marina Rodriguez and Michelle Waterson. So tune in here or wherever you listen to your podcast at!

#CB99talks 135 (Seek and Destroy)

We’re here WMMA fans! We have another solid card ahead of us tonight. Four WMMA fights which includes two straw weight bouts and two flyweight bouts. Of course the main event which Alexa Grasso is ready to defend her title against the Bullet Valentina Shevchenko! Grasso has proven in the first fight that she is a hungry and improving fighter and deserves to have that belt, but Shevchenko believes it was all a mistake and she is ready to destroy. Both fighters have finish on their mind and want to make a major statement so the odds appear to be even. Before the main event, we have two new comers to strawweight Josefine Knutsson and Marnic Mann facing off. We also have Loopy Godinez taking on Elise Reed. Tracey Cortez makes her return against the gritty strong flyweight Jasmine Jasudavicius. Then the main event kicks off with Grasso ready to shock the world again and Shevchenko ready to redeem herself. So tune in and lets talk about the fights! #CB99talks 134 ( A Night in Paris)

Welcome back fans, returning with another live show! Lets talk about the fights in Paris! I didn’t get to watch the Prelims on fight day so I went back to watch the performances of two new bantamweights. Jaqueline Cavalcanti easily won a decision against Zarah Fairn at a catchweight bout. What happens to Fairn from here?? Nora Cornolle wins her UFC debut in a controversial decision against Joselyne Edwards. Did Nora do enough to get a 30-27 card?? Finally the co-main has Manon Fiorot making her return against Rose Namajunas making her debut to flyweight! Fiorot was able to get by Namajunas in a competitive but earned decision. Was this victory enough to get a title shot? Was Rose’s dislocated finger really the cause of her losing the fight? Lets talk about it!
